New Google Business Profile Feature Helps Businesses Track Google Posts Views

New Google Business Profile Feature Helps Businesses Track Google Posts Views

October 19, 2026

Businesses that use Google Business Profile to share updates, promotions, events, and announcements now have a new way to measure how those posts are performing.

Google has introduced Google Posts Reporting, giving businesses the ability to see how many times their Google Business Profile posts are viewed by customers across Google Search and Google Maps.

For local businesses, this new reporting feature can provide a clearer picture of which updates are attracting attention and which types of posts are resonating most with customers.

Better Insight Into Your Google Posts

Google Posts allow businesses to publish timely updates directly through their Google Business Profile. These posts can be used to promote special offers, highlight upcoming events, announce new products or services, share company news, and provide other useful information to customers searching for the business online.

Previously, it could be difficult to know how much visibility individual posts were receiving. With the addition of Google Posts Reporting, businesses can now see view counts directly within their Business Profile dashboard.

The new reporting includes:

  • Rolling 18-Month Insights: Businesses can review performance information for posts published during the previous 18 months.

  • Reporting Across Post Types: Views can be tracked for regular updates, special offers, events, and other Google Posts.

  • Google Search and Maps Visibility: Reporting includes aggregated views from customers discovering posts through both Google Search and Google Maps.

These insights can help businesses better understand the topics, promotions, and announcements that generate the most interest.

How to View Your Google Posts Metrics

Checking your post performance is simple:

  1. Sign in to your Google Business Profile.

  2. Select Posts from the Business Profile dashboard.

  3. Review the view count displayed on each individual post.

Businesses can then use that information to adjust future posts and focus more attention on the types of content their customers appear to find most useful.

Google notes that this reporting information is not currently available through the API, so businesses will need to view the metrics directly through their Google Business Profile.

Why Google Posts Matter for Local Businesses

A Google Business Profile is often one of the first things a potential customer sees when searching for a local business. Keeping that profile active with current posts can help businesses communicate important information at the exact moment customers are searching for them.

For example, a restaurant could promote a weekend special, a retailer could highlight a seasonal sale, or a professional service company could announce a new service or upcoming event.

With the addition of post-view reporting, businesses can begin using actual performance data to determine which messages are attracting the most attention instead of relying solely on assumptions.
